A 10-year-old boy was struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing the street in the Bronx, police say.

Waseem Alnajjar was crossing the street at Hunts Point and Lafayette avenues in Hunts Point Monday just before 7 a.m. when he was hit by the driver.
Witnesses described seeing the boy bloodied and lying in the street before he was transported to the hospital by EMS.
Alnajjar was taken to Lincoln Hospital in serious condition, but later transferred to New York Presbyterian Medical Center where he remains in critical condition, police say.
The family and witnesses both claim the driver did not stop and left the scene.
No description of the car was given to police.
