11-year-old stabs violent home invader in Mount Hope
A 22-year-old man with a long rap sheet attacked a woman in her Mount Hope apartment Tuesday, but the victim's 11-year-old son stabbed him and chased him off, police say.
Brian Febus allegedly broke into the family's Clifford Place home after he was denied permission to come inside the third-floor apartment and use the bathroom.
When the mother said no, police say Febus kicked in the door and chased her into the kitchen.
The woman grabbed a knife, which police say Febus turned against her and used to cut her hand. He also left her with a bruised lip before the 11-year-old stabbed Febus twice. A 4-year-old brother was also in the apartment at the time.
The older boy received injuries in the scuffle. Mother and child were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment.
Coincidentally, police say Febus also walked himself to St. Barnabas for treatment, and he was arrested there when the mother identified him as the assailant.
Police say Febus has 14 prior arrests. He now faces burglary and assault charges.
