16 people displaced following 5-alarm fire in Van Nest

The Red Cross says 16 people were displaced after a five-alarm fire in Van Nest that started in an auto body shop and spread to nearby homes.
Displaced resident Fantasia Rivera told News 12 she grabbed her two kids, two dogs, and two cats and ran outside her home. She said she's only lived in her home for six months after spending time in a shelter. She said she now has to start all over again and is heartbroken.
It took FDNY three hours to get the fire under control. Officials said over 200 FDNY and EMS personnel responded to the scene.
Four firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
"Everything is burnt up. I'm severely disabled. This is ridiculous. This has been the worst year," said Jacy Hudson. She said she was able to grab a few belongings like her phone and a backpack, but other than that, she has nothing.
The Red Cross was assisting displaced residents with temporary lodging as of Saturday evening.
