Neighbors and officers came together for an annual run to honor an NYPD hero as well as the victims of 9/11.
The 17th annual Clesse 5K Memorial Run took place on Pelham Parkway to honor a Lt. Thomas Clesse who served the NYPD for 32 years.
Lt. Clesse spent a large portion of his career at the Bronx's 49th Precinct. He died in 2002 at the age of 58.
People say they remember him most for his relationship with the community and for building a strong relationship with the people he had to protect.
Organizers of the event say they also created the run to remember the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
This year, the proceeds from the race will go to the NYC Patrolmen's Benevolent Association Widows and Children's Fund.
