2 cops injured responding to home invasion
A 911 caller was arrested after two police officers were injured while responding to his call in University Heights, according to authorities.
A 60-year-old man called police saying that he was being robbed. Officers arrived at his 1970 University Ave. apartment and found two suspects in the stairwell.
Both officers were injured in the ensuing scuffle as one suspect, a 27-year-old man, was arrested. The second suspect escaped.
When police visited the 60-year-old's apartment, they say they found drugs inside and arrested him as well. Police sources say the home invasion was drug-related.
Both officers were taken to a hospital for treatment. One may have suffered a broken leg, and the other was struck in the head, according to witnesses. Both are expected to be OK.
