Two Fordham University students were robbed just 10 minutes apart from one another.
Police say it happened Monday night near the campus. The first student was robbed on East 191st Street around 7:40 p.m. According to police, a 20-year-old man approached the female student and acted as if he had a gun. They say the man demanded the 18-year-old student hand over her phone and money.
The second student was robbed on Hughes Avenue around 7:50 p.m. Police say a 20-year-old man approached the male student with a knife, but told the victim he also had a gun. The suspect demanded the student hand over his phone and cash.
In an official university notification, Fordham Public Safety said there were two suspects in each case, however, the NYPD can only confirm they're currently searching for one person right now. Suspect is said to be anywhere between 20 to 22 years old and six feet tall.
Both students are expected to be OK.
University officials are now warning students to be more vigilant and notify the police with any leads.
