2 suspects remain at large in robbery of teen
A Highbridge teen says he's having trouble coping knowing that the two men who allegedly beat and robbed him in a Gerard Avenue deli remain at large five days later.
"I keep getting angrier and angrier every time I think about it," says the victim, who asked only to be identified as "John."
"I'm still going to be angry if they catch them, but I'll be satisfied if they catch them -- it won't be as bad."
As News 12 has previously reported, two men followed the 18-year-old into the store at 1052 Gerard Ave. on Feb. 12 around 9:15 p.m.
Security video shows the two suspects, both wearing hoodies, seemingly arguing with John before punching him in the face. He says they accused him of a robbery, and that he tried to explain he didn't know what they were talking about.
He says they took $45, his jacket and his sneakers. John says he walked home barefoot.
John and his family say they've frequented the deli for 15 years but had never seen the suspects before.
