A second grade student has written a book to fight back against bullies.

Skylah Williams, 7, is a self-published author who wrote “The Girl and the Bookbag.” She says the story is based off her own experiences with bullying.

Skylah says back in the first grade, she had to stand up for herself when kids at school would call her names, saying she was too small and would open the door on her while she was in the bathroom.

She says her mom helped her learn how to express herself to the bullies and to work with the school staff to stop them in their tracks.

The book talks about a girl named Sarah who faces her own bullies with a magic backpack.
