3 honored to mark Women's History Month
In honor of Women's History Month, three New York City women were showcased today for their achievements in education, arts, business, and intercultural affairs.
The women were honored at Rep. Joe Crowley's annual Women's History Month Event, which was also attended by Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul. The event is aimed at highlighting the importance of women in leadership positions and promoting equality in the workplace.
Deirdre Scott, executive director of the Bronx Council of the Arts, was among those being honored.
Crowley said there is still more work to be done in creating equality in the workplace. He said women still earn about 22 cents to the dollar less than their male counterparts.
