6 injured in Bronx high-rise fire
Six people, including children, were injured in an apartment building fire in Morris Heights Monday.
The fire broke occurred at 1600 Sedgewick Ave. about 6 a.m.
Officials say the fire started inside the kitchen of a ninth-floor unit, but News 12 was told that it was not stove-related.
Witnesses say heavy smoke filled the high-rise until firefighters were able to put out the flames, which took about 10 minutes.
The family living inside the apartment where the fire started was asleep at the time and woke up from the smoke alarms.
Officials say the family is being treated for smoke inhalation, and they are expected to be OK. They say the fire was confined to just one apartment.
