If you don't have a gift for your mom for Mother's Day yet, a 6-year-old from from Riverdale has you covered!
Maria Coder and her 6-year-old daughter Amelia are hard at work making shirts, tote bags and more to be ready for the special holiday.
For almost a year, the duo has been in the design business creating and selling their merch online.
"It’s really fun, and it feels like really special to have that time together," Coder adds. "To be doing something that isn’t watching TV and something really hands-on."
Coder says her and Amelia talk about a lot of grown-up things together like business strategy, numbers and money. The first grader even has her own bank account.
"I think it’s really important for women and for girls to stand on their own two feet and make their own way and from an early age," Coder says.
The shirts go for about $15 each, and they have hundreds of designs on their online shop. They also can personalize almost any order.
Their Etsy site, RosieLikesIt, brings in dozens of sales. Their first in-person sale is coming up just in time for Mother’s Day. You can find the pop-up on May 11 from 12-5 p.m. in front of the Yo-Burger on Riverdale Avenue.
