67-year-old man dies after hit and run on the Major Deegan Expressway
A 67-year-old man has died after police say he was struck by two cars while crossing the Major Deegan Expressway Friday.
It happened at the intersection of East 233rd Street around 6 a.m. while 67-year-old Bobby Cuwer attempted to cross the street near the southbound lane of the Major Deegan, police say.
Police say Cuwer was rushed to Montefiore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say he was struck by a vehicle in the center lane while crossing the expressway, andthen hit by a second vehicle in the left lane, according to police. Both vehicles fled the scene and the investigation is ongoing by the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad, police say.
