8th annual Allerton Food Festival kicks off
Bronx residents got a taste of cuisine from around the world Saturday when the eighth annual Allerton Food Festival kicked off on Allerton Avenue and Boston Road.
The menu included food from seven different countries, including Italy, Spain, China and Trinidad. All of the food was free.
Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj and state Sen. Jeff Klein host the event every year. They say it's a celebration of the borough's diversity.
The Bronx is among the most diverse communities in the country, they say.
