Academy of Mount Saint Ursula celebrates Ring Day
Students at the Academy of Mount Saint Ursula put on rollerblades to participate in the school's annual Ring Day.
The tradition of skating to school to collect senior rings is a tradition that stems back many years at the school.
Students come decked out in their skating gear, ready to skate down 199th Street to get their rings.
Part of the tradition is for family members, sophomore sisters or faculty to help the seniors down the hill.
"It's a tradition and I really enjoy the fact that we get to do it all together with our friends and skate down the hill and be a family," says senior Valerie Blane.
Some students opted out of the rollerblades this year and instead are riding down the hill on scooters for their safety.
