Members of American Veterans Post 38 in the Bronx are ready to open their doors again.
The post was damaged when Superstorm Sandy hit in 2012 and it had to close.
Members say they have been working to get the place up and running ever since.

The group says it is still waiting on a grant from the state to make necessary repairs. The funds will be used to fix the roof, patio and sea wall.

AMVETS says it is hoping to raise money by recruiting more veterans to the post.

"If you're out there and you want to be in that comradely we all know and you haven't joined, AMVETS is open and willing to accept you all in,” says Walter Rau from AMVETS Post 38.
They have also held numerous fundraisers to secure funds.

AMVETS says it wouldn't be where it is today without help from other veterans organizations, and it plans to make more improvements to the building in the near future.
