Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. kicked off a toy drive for the holidays Thursday at the Bronx Zoo with the help of students from P.S. 205.
The toys will be distributed to local veterans and active-duty members of the military who live in the Bronx.
New, unwrapped toys can be donated at the zoo until New Year’s Eve.
While the drive is an annual event, this year the zoo is also collecting donations for relief supplies to send to hurricane victims.
Contributors of either toys or relief supplies will be given free tickets to the zoo.
