Anti-gun violence advocates turn to Bronx seniors for help
Save Our Streets in the Bronx wants senior citizens to be its eyes and ears on the ground when it comes to stopping gun violence.
The anti-gun violence group 'Save Our Streets,' or S.O.S, hosted a bingo event Monday afternoon and used the get-together to talk to seniors about the importance of promoting peace in the neighborhood.
Organizers say the group has visited 10 housing developments in the area over the summer to spread its message of peace.
Save Our Streets Morrisania boasts of a 27-day streak without a shooting in its action zone, and Save Our Streets South Bronx says it has a 69-day streak.
The groups also provide teens with resume-building workshops and internships over the summer as part of their "anti-violence youth employment program."
