The man charged in the murder of a Mott Haven bodega worker was back in court Friday.
Leonardo Nieves is being charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of bodega clerk Yahya Almuntser on Valentine's Day.
Nieves made a brief appearance but did not wish to testify in front of a grand jury. The judge then set his arraignment for March 25.
Police released a surveillance video of Nieves wearing a mask and walking with a cane outside the B&A Deli on Brooke Avenue before, police say, he went into the store and shot the 34-year-old several times and killed him.
Almuntser's family members were in court, and his cousin told News 12 he was an innocent person who was expecting his first child with his wife.
His family tells News 12 they don't know who Nieves is and what his motive might have been.
