The Barstool Fund, which has helped many small businesses throughout the country, struck again on Long Island – this time at Phil’s Pizza in Syosset.
Phil's owner Anthony Laurino says bills have been mounting, but he keeps his staff working.
He says he got a call from the head of Barstool Sports Dave Portnoy on Wednesday, saying the fund was going to help the business.
“He told me, ‘We're going to take care of you. Don't worry about it. We're here for you,’” said Laurino.
He says his employees will be paid the same and the money will take a load of stress off his shoulders. He says he's not sure how much he will be getting from the fund just yet.
Other business who have received relief from the fund have received thousands of dollars to keep them open.
