Baychester residents ask for sidewalks, street lights
Some Baychester residents want the city to install sidewalks and new street lights on what they describe as a dangerous stretch of Tillotson Avenue.
They say they have no space to walk safely on the road near the area's three schools, including the Rosa Parks Educational campus. It affects hundreds of parents and students.
There's no sidewalk on Tillotson Avenue between Reeds Mill Lane and Boller Avenue. Some say they are worried about walking close to traffic, while others say street lights do not provide enough lighting.
The Department of Transportation says it has responded to all complaints regarding broken street lights, but due to tree and rock formations it cannot install sidewalks in the area.
