A Bayville woman says that she is looking for the owners of an urn that her husband found while walking by the beach.
Eileen Hunt says that her husband was walking near Berkeley Island Park in Bayville with the family dog and stumbled across an urn containing ashes. She posted photos of it on Facebook in the hopes that someone claims it.
“I’m hoping that somebody says, ‘Hey, that’s mine’ and they get real excited that it was found,” Hunt says.
Opinions about where the urn came from and to who it belonged began to pour in all over social media.
Hunt’s boss at A Blossom Shop Florist has her own theory.
“You figure someone maybe was going to dump the urn or the ashes into the ocean but maybe it slipped out of their hands,” says Stacey Cofka.
A funeral director who reached out to News 12’s Tony Caputo says that he agrees with Cofka’s theory.
But others say that they think that the urn may have washed away during Superstorm Sandy.
“Trailers washed over there. There’s so many things that came over, maybe it’s lost from Sandy,” Hunt says.
Pictures and addition information about the urn can be found on Hunt’s Facebook page.
