City Island's revamped Belden Point officially opened Thursday.

Local leaders and residents attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new seaside destination after 10 years of work.

A blend of city and private funding helped renovate the green space at Belden Point, which overlooks the Long Island Sound.

"I think a lot of these people, when they eat at these restaurants, will relax and enjoy the waterfront," says state Sen. Jeffrey Klein, who helped secure $175,000 toward the project. "It took a long time but it was worth the wait."
