Black Friday was off to a relatively slow start Friday morning as shoppers trickled into stores at Bruckner Plaza.

Parking lots were fairly empty and sidewalks free of lines in the Bronx, partly due to the fact that stores like Old Navy, Kmart, and Toys R Us were already open as of Thursday evening and didn’t close overnight.

Employees reported that they had some lines and a small rush around midnight, but nothing more.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman warned Black Friday shoppers to be aware of added fees such as delivery costs as well as stores’ return policies on holiday items, which can be different from the standard return policy.

Likewise, his office advises to read the fine print on warranties and layaway plans.

The NYPD also advised shoppers to avoid keeping wallets in a back pocket, and not leaving bags unattended in the car.
