Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. has announced funding to install adult exercise equipment at Van Cortlandt Park.
He has allocated $525,000 in his capital budget for fiscal year 2020 to do so.
The new equipment will be similar to what Diaz already helped put in Soundview Park -- bodyweight exercise equipment.
The Van Cortlandt Park Classic Playground is just one of three Bronx parks slated to get money for adult exercise equipment in Diaz's capital budget. The others are Haffen Park and Ferry Point Community Park.
Diaz Jr. says he was inspired to make the Bronx healthier ever since it was named the unhealthiest county in New York state -- and says he is not stopping until his vision is complete.
