Borough president wants platform above rail yard
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. called for a platform above the Concourse Rail Yard near Lehman College Wednesday.
The proposal, which would cost upward of $350 million, would create valuable real estate where none exists, Diaz said.
The MTA, which owns the rights to the air space above its land, said it takes Diaz's suggestions seriously and would study the proposal.
Diaz said he is hopeful that his office and transit authorities will reach an agreement.
There is currently no timeframe for when the undertaking would begin.
