Bratton: Shootings, robberies are down in NYC
Crime is down in New York City, according to NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton and other top police officials.
Bratton reported an overall decrease in shootings and robberies during the department's monthly crime statistics meeting. The commissioner also suggested that 2015 could be one of the NYPD's best years when it comes to reducing crime.
"I think we're trending towards a successful year in maintaining very low crime rates and disorder in the city," Bratton said.
Despite the downward trend, the NYPD did report a slight increase in homicides.
