Fire officials say five people were hurt following a two-alarm fire at an apartment building in Brighton Beach Tuesday night.
Firefighters responded to the scene at 3033 Brighton 13 St. shortly after 9 p.m. A total of 25 units and 106 fire and EMS members were on scene to put out the blaze that erupted on the third floor.
Crews were able to contain the fire in about two hours. Officials say the victims, six civilians and two firefighters, were treated at the scene and taken to the hospital. Red Cross was on the scene helping the families invovled.
In the middle of getting video of the scene Wednesday morning, News 12 Photojournalist Jose saw smoke coming from the window and alerted the Red Cross. Moments later, the FDNY responded back to the scene.
The FDNY got whatever was causing that under control in just a few minutes and left the scene again.
No word on the cause of the fire.
