Plunging temperatures caused a broken water line on Watson Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue to turn to ice Saturday.
The Department of Environmental Protection responded to the water main break Saturday morning.
Police closed Watson Avenue as DEP workers spread salt to prevent the icy conditions from worsening.
DEP workers at the scene tell News 12 that Holy Family Church has a broken water line that is causing the leak from the main.
One man who lives nearby says the water started leaking on Friday.
"There was a little bit of water, not flowing as much as it is now, I think it's gotten worse," says Pastor John Hannah.
DEP workers say the church was served a three-day notice to get the line repaired.
DEP says it is their responsibility because it is their line. It says there is an influx of line breaks during cold temperatures.
