An 11-year-old Bronx boy is making Santa's nice list this year as he collects socks to help the homeless.

Elijah Cherry got the idea to collect the socks after he was leaving a Rangers game at Madison Square Garden last month. He says he saw a bunch of homeless people on the street with no socks and couldn't shake the images from his head. That's when he got the idea to hold a sock drive.

Cherry's mom, Nikkole, put the word out on Facebook and the donations started pouring in. Cherry says he collected 600 pairs of socks from places like Texas, South Carolina and Atlanta.

Instead of opening his presents first thing Christmas morning, Cherry plans to head into Manhattan to hand out all of the socks he collected.
