Bronx children participate in Police Athletic League’s Sports Day

Hundreds of children converged on Van Cortlandt Park Friday to participate in New York City’s Police Athletic League’s Sports Day.
Kids played several sports including football, soccer and track.
The annual event is intended to keeps kids active during the summer, help them meet other kids from throughout the five boroughs and help them learn skill development and friendly sportsmanship.
Amaury Tavarez, a participant this year, said, “What’s so fun about today is that I get to do all these sports that I’ve never done before.”
Twelve Police Athletic League centers came out to Van Cortlandt Park Friday.
