Bronx commuters blindsided by Q44 route change
The Q44 bus stopped on Harrod Avenue near the Bronx River Houses up until a few months ago when the MTA moved the route, frustrating many commuters.
Bronx residents that used to pick up the Q44 bus on Harrod Avenue, many of them elderly, now have to go six blocks away to the Cross Bronx service road stop on Rosedale Avenue.
Many commuters say it happened without warning from the MTA.
When News 12 alerted the MTA to riders' complaints, the agency said it was the first time it heard of the issue and would look into it.
The MTA says the change was part of a string of safety and efficiency improvements that included adding terminals to pay outside the bus at the remaining Q44 "Select Service" stops.
