A Bronx-based dance troupe is learning a new move inspired by and created in the borough.
It’s called the Boogie Down Slide, and is being taught to dancers who are part of community organization ALFRBA.
Founder Barbara Gibson Lagrant says the group aims to teach young people some great moves, but also incorporates important lessons about manners and etiquette.
The group hopes to perform the dance at the Bronx Day Parade this year, and says they hope the hip-hop inspired moves catch on and are performed in the boogie down for years to come.
