The Bronx man who died in police custody after being arrested was laid to rest Friday.
Samuel Reyes was arrested on armed robbery charges and brought to the 49th Precinct last Tuesday. Police say they found him unresponsive the next day hanged in a holding cell. He was in the ICU for two days, but died last Friday.
The sergeant that was supposed to be watching him has been put on modified assignment.
Friends and family gathered for Reyes' memorial service at R.G. Ortiz Funeral Home in Parkchester.
While the NYPD's Force Investigation Unite conducts its own investigation, the family's attorney has been in contact with the Special Prosecutor's Office as they await Reyes' autopsy results.
