Feb. 17 is National No One Eats Alone Day, and one local organization aims to spread the message of community and inclusivity in the lunchroom to kids.
Bronx students at Emolior Academy took part in observing the day, as they learned how to disrupt social isolation and become ambassadors of belonging.
The campaign, sponsored by Beyond Differences, focuses on making sure students feel like they belong.
“We really want to teach kids to be inclusive and be kind, and accept each other for who they are,” said Carly Zdanek, from Beyond Differences.
The goal after this day is to have kids take their newly improved skills of kindness with them as they go on throughout their lives.
