Bronx tenants escape Decatur Ave. fire
A number of Bronx families were forced from their homes to escape an early morning two-alarm fire.
More than 100 firefighters and 25 units rushed to 2679 Decatur Ave., near East 195th Street, at around 5 a.m. Officials say it took about an hour to get the flames under control at the five-story apartment building.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Neighbors say they banged on each other's apartments to make sure everyone was evacuating as smoke spread through the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the FDNY does not believe it to be suspicious.
