A Bronx woman has started her own meal prep service for those in the borough looking to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Inspired by her mother's fresh food growing up, Sharlene Felix started the new business called Lunch.BX. She takes orders from anyone who is looking to lead a healthy lifestyle but is too busy to do the meal prepping that goes along with it.
Felix cooks special recipes for each client, which include everything from vegetables, chicken and fish.
The Bronx native's journey started in culinary school where she learned how to spice up her foods to make even the healthiest vegetables taste great.
"I'm basically cooking things that I enjoy eating, so for example like the cauliflower fried rice," Felix says. "I have had a very hard time eating cauliflower--it's not my favorite vegetable and I've found ways to cook it and actually make it very delicious."
Once the meals are cooked, they are placed in portioned-sized containers to be picked up.
