Hold on to your butts – a new prehistoric experience is coming soon to the Bronx Zoo.
The Dinosaur Safari takes visitors on a narrated ride through a 2-acre area of the zoo dedicated to all things prehistoric.
The zoo says it’s the “most realistic dinosaur ride in America.”
"The same way we exhibit other animals and other species, we've created an exhibit for dinosaurs," says zoo director Jim Berheny.
That includes 40-ultra realistic, lifesize dinosaurs coming back to life thanks to high-tech animatronics. They blink, they breathe and they roar.
The zoo consulted with a paleontologist and a dinosaur expert who advised on the production of the film “Jurassic Park.”
Dinosaur Safari opens to the public on Friday, April 19 and runs through Nov. 3.
