A Brooklyn charity, "Sisters of 32" held a screening for the highly anticipated film “The Color Purple” this past weekend.
The event was held at the Linden Boulevard Multiplex Cinemas.
The “Color Purple” – based off the novel by Alice Walker -- follows a Black teenager raised in rural Georgia in the early 20th century.
The group will also be going to a local supermarket and using the funds they raised to pay for the groceries of 10 families this holiday season on Dec. 22.
“The Color Purple” hits theaters on Christmas day.
