Brooklyn residents find relief from heat in 'Water on the Go' hotspots
Brooklyn residents found relief from the heat by taking advantage of the city's 'Water on the Go' hotspots Friday.
Residents used the portable water fountains near Grand Army Plaza in order to stay cool on what is expected to be the beginning of a heat wave in the city.
Every year since 2010, the city has placed pop-up water fountains in public parks and plazas and hooked up water from city fire hydrants.
City officials say the fountains aren't just about keeping hydrated, they say there is also an important environmental goal to help cut down on plastic water bottles.
