A car crashed into a building in Leonia Thursday afternoon, sparking a fire.

The crash happened on the 300 block of Fort Lee Road near Highland Street. The car crashed into the back of an insurance company.

News 12 crews saw a burned car being loaded onto a tow truck after the crash.

The fire has been put out, but witnesses say that it was quite intense.

“Smoke was black. That tree set on fire…I saw there was a car in that side of the building, and I saw there was a mother and daughter that were both in that car on the way down from Fort Lee Road. Jumped out of it and that's where it hit. It burst into flames,” says Leonia resident Luke Kutner.

The road was closed for a time but is reopened.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was hurt or why the crash happened.
