Cashless tolls begin on Marine Parkway Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge
Commuters got to experience the first cashless tolls Monday on the Marine Parkway Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge.
Drivers on the span no longer have to slow down in order to get their E-ZPass read - the bridge is equipped with overhead sensors that can either read the tags or take images of a driver's license plate.
This span is one of seven bridges and tunnels in the tri-state area where toll booths are being eliminated and being replaced with new the electronic scanning system.
Drivers who use cashless tolls will continue to be billed through E-ZPass. Those without the electronic tags will be sent a bill in the mail.
