Caught on camera: Burglar enters room with sleeping 2-month-old
Police have released new video of a man who they say broke into two apartments in the same building just minutes apart, ending up in the same room as a sleeping baby.
It happened inside an apartment building at Johnson Avenue and West 236th Street, and it was all caught on camera.
The video shows the suspect inside a bedroom walking by a crib. Police tell News 12 that a 2-month-old baby was sleeping in the crib seen in the video.
They say the burglar climbed into the room through an unlocked window from the fire escape and looked around the room. After hearing the baby's 32-year-old father in the living room, police say the man fled through the window.
Just five minutes later, he forced open a 28-year-old woman's window, climbing inside and stealing jewelry, a bicycle and a backpack.
Police say both incidents happened on Friday, March 8 around 8 p.m.
They say no one was hurt.
They describe the suspect as a male last seen wearing a dark-colored knit cap, a gray-hooded sweater, a dark-colored coat and backpack.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
