Ceiling collapses on woman's head in Wakefield
A woman says she was injured after the ceiling collapsed in her Wakefield apartment.
Natasha Knox says the collapse is just the latest in a string of problems she's had in the White Plains Road apartment over the past five years. The home is filled with broken doors and lights, and there are mouse droppings littering the floors.
Knox says she was sitting with her cousin on a couch when she noticed a crack in the ceiling. An hour later, she says the whole thing came down on her head and knocked her unconscious.
Knox says she contacted her landlord and did not receive a response. The landlord has reportedly been cited by Section 8 and Housing Preservation and Development officials for multiple violations.
Section 8 officials are helping Knox in her search for a new apartment.
News 12 reached out to NYCHA and the Department of Buildings but they have not yet responded.
