A charter school that brings opportunities to children with autism is set to open its doors in the Bronx next year.

Neighborhood Charter School in Harlem has worked hard to achieve impressive results. The school does so by having longer classroom hours and a packed schedule for students.

Students have science instruction every day starting in kindergarten, along with several hours a day of math, English and language arts. The school says they also believe in dance and a full menu of food choices for children when they come to their schools.

Neighborhood's method is also inclusive, bringing in special-needs students under one roof. Each class has two chairs -- one for a general teacher and another for a special education teacher.

Neighborhood's first Bronx location is due to open on Wales Avenue in Mott Haven in August for kindergarten and first grade.

Bronx resident Samantha Ramos sends her daughter to the Harlem school and is pleased with the experience the school provides. Her daughter agrees.

"I feel really happy...the kids are like me, autistic, and I get to have friends," says Maylin Ramos.

School officials say the Bronx location will grow a grade each year until it becomes a fully operating K-8 school.
