Christians across the borough celebrated Easter Sunday.
Hundreds of people packed into St. Lucy Roman Catholic Church for Easter Mass.
The holiday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus after he was crucified days earlier.
"We trust in him, we worship him, we thank him," said Patricia Plante, a parishioner at the church. "So we celebrate him."
St. Lucy has been helping worshipers mark this religious occasion for nearly 100 years with multiple services throughout the day in more than one language.
Many people also lined up to pay their respects and receive special blessings from St. Lucy, who is known as the patron saint of the blind, bearing light in the darkness.
News 12 talked to some worshipers about why celebrating Easter is so important for them.
"Today is the day Jesus resurrected and a lot of people have that hope of maybe coming back again to this world," says Alberto Ortiz.
After Mass, many families went home to have a traditional Easter feast.
