City agrees to Broadway safety upgrades
The city says it will make safety improvements on Broadway at 225th and 228th streets to benefit pedestrians, cyclists and drivers alike.
The stretch of road has been the site of more than 100 injuries and two deaths since 2009.
At the request of Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez, the city's Department of Transportation has agreed to changes, including wider medians, an expanded bus island and new road markings.
The DOT says the improvements, which are already underway, should be fully installed by late summer or early fall.
