The Christmas season is under way at the Clason Point Library, where parents and children lined up to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus Saturday.
The library offered a full morning of holiday fun that included a reading of a Christmas story and a Santa meet-and-greet.
Children were able to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The photos were then turned into keepsake keychains.
The library staff says it is important to offer events in the community.
"We wanted to give back to our community and some families they can't travel down to Manhattan or go to their local mall, so everything here is free at the library and basically this is a thank you to them," says library staff member Melissa Davis.
Staff said they expected 20 to 30 families to show up, but ended up with close to 100.
They say they are thrilled with the turnout and hope to make the event an annual tradition.
