Controversial strip club opens its doors in Hunts Point
A controversial strip club in Hunts Point opened its doors Wednesday night to much fanfare from its owner.
Owner Felix Aquesta says he Platinum Pleasures made much nicer than the club that proceeded it. The strip club comes equipped with plenty of cameras as well as overhead and hand scanners. Aquesta also say that former corrections officers are bouncers.
Locals aren't pleased with the opening, saying it replaces a long shuttered gentlemen's club that was known for its violence.
According to Community Board 2, the old gentleman's club's history of violence began in 2006 when a bouncer was stabbed. The violence continued after that, with at least one act of violence occurring there a year until 2009.
Platinum Pleasures has an age limit of 23 or older and a strict dress code.
