Cops release photo of hit-and-run suspect
Police have released a photo of a man wanted for an allegedly intentional hit-and-run that happened in the Bronx Saturday afternoon.
They say a 26-year-old man was crossing Union Street at around 3:30 p.m. when he was struck by a black Ford Taurus with Pennsylvania plates. The driver fled the scene.
The victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition with a head injury.
Police have identified the suspect as 25-year-old Josue Gago. They say Gago was involved in a verbal dispute with the victim earlier in the day, and they believe he intentionally struck him.
Gago is identified as a Hispanic male, standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 145 pounds. Police have released a photo of him and they are urging anyone with information to call them at 1-800-577-TIPS.
Shortly after that incident, a car also hit a woman crossing the street at nearby Prospect Avenue. The victim's husband tried climbing into the driver's window, but since police were already on scene, he was immediately arrested. The female victim was taken away in an ambulance.
