Correction officer from Brooklyn laid to rest
The funeral was held Tuesday for a New York City correction officer shot to death while sitting in her car in Brooklyn.
Alastasia Bryan, 25, was laid to rest at Canarsie Cemetery in Brooklyn. Investigators say Bryan was sitting in the car near East 73rd Street and Avenue L in Flatlands last Sunday when a gunman approached and fired at least four shots into her vehicle. Surveillance video shows the attacker lurking nearby before ambushing her.
Police say a second suspect was also involved. The two reportedly fled in a gold-colored sedan. The correction officers union is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Police say at one point they were looking to question Bryan's ex-boyfriend.
Bryan was a rookie correction officer who had been on the job for just a month.
